DC Harvest

6/20/2016

By DateSpoTtdc | @DATESPOTTDC

From the name, to the food, to the service, everything about DC Harvest makes you feel like you are home right from the moment you walk through the doors. That is not surprising considering this cozy restaurant is owned by brothers Arthur and Jared Ringle who had family members furnish the place, creating a warm atmosphere.

THE MOOD
Combining the pre-existing brick walls and dark wood, with modern brass lights and wallpaper gives this place an updated farmhouse look and feel. All of their ingredients and menu items are home-grown and locally sourced with fresh ingredients resulting in thoughtfully and carefully crafted dishes.

THE FOOD & DRINKS
The savvy kitchen knows exactly what customers are looking for while keeping up with current trends. This kind of fine attention to detail and evolution is exactly what makes DC Harvest so special. Arthur, the Chef, locally sources rye to make his own vermouth and adapts new menu items by catering them to his customers tastes and preferences.

As a result of this fine tuning process everything that comes out of the kitchen is spot on. The bread and cheese plate come with a mascarpone cheese that is so flavorful and fluffy it feels like your taste buds are walking on clouds.

The sous vide prepared Old Bay Fried Chicken is tender, crisp, and fresh; nabbing the highest praise of the Washington Post’s Tom Sietsema.

The Quinoa Encrusted Shrimp and Quinoa Cakes are a unique pairing that don't fail to deliver. The shrimp is the perfect crunch with the aioli just added another delicate layer to the flavor.

THE BOTTOM LINE
DC Harvest is everything you’re looking for in a nice cozy restaurant that packs a delicious and innovative punch. Jared and Arthur really take the time to learn their customers and this is apparent in the excellent quality of everything they do. There is no better place to enjoy a comfortable meal in a great atmosphere. Be on the lookout for their creatively crafted Brunch pitchers of cold brew cocktails.

OUR RECOMMENDATION
We recommend going to DC Harvest on Tuesday for their ‘Date night for Two’ where you can get 2 cocktails, 2 entrees and 1 delicious dessert like the S’mores Chocolate Pot du Creme that we devoured all for $50.
